Our youngest has trouble with her teeth. We stopped doing any chewable vitamins and added a flouride rinse every other night (where we live there is no flouride in the water). Our dentist is very kind and says that mostly it's just how some people's teeth are. Our oldest has never had a cavity. Go figure.

I'm awaiting the arrival at my library of Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities with Nutrition. I'm pretty sure I saw it mentioned here, so someone else here probably knows more about that I do.

Thanks ladies. I will look into your recommendations.

This has been an ongoing saga with all of my kids. They all had tons of baby teeth cavities. Then they get their adult teeth and never have another cavity. It always starts at age 5. Always. Same check up with every single one of the kids.

This time it is one of my twins. She has bad cavities between each of her molars. Dentist says I am not flossing well enough. I am doing the best that I can. Her molars are jammed so tightly together I can barely get the floss in and out of there. Dental guilt...hate it. I feel bad enough. She has 3 filling appointments scheduled. Each cavity between her molars has affected both teeth. Tow of the mmight need baby root canals. Been there, done that.

Just sad... I know, in the scheme of things this is small potatoes. Just needed to talk about it I guess.

My other twin has a check up on Aug. 11th. I am dreading it.

I heard recently on the radio about a new treatment done with Ozone- apparently, ozone kills the bacteria that cause the cavities and stops the ongoing decay- they are taking it to third world countries where tooth decay is horrible and seeing amazing results. There are some dentitists in WA state using it, but they aren't part of our dental network, BUT if our finances stabilize a bit I may go see one anyway.

As my teeth are falling apart no matter what I seem to do ... my whole life it has been an issue, as it was for my mom and dad, and same as your kiddos.

They have some very thin floss out and I think it's called Glide floss. Supposed to be able to get in between the tightest teeth. I am ashamed to say, I am not much of a flosser. I went to dental assisting school...I know I should, but I honestly don't even think about it unless I have something stuck there. LOL! In school, we heard the saying over and over again...
Brushing your teeth without flossing is like taking a shower with your clothes on.
If only I could practice what I used to preach!

The dentist told me that some people just have bad teeth. I had very bad baby teeth that were not fixed. Because of that, my permanent teeth are weak.

No advice really, other than stay on top of treatment to prevent problems later.
my 17yo dd had a very similar experience as Lisalyn's. 8 fillings/caps at age 7. We lived in the city then, with fluoridated water, very little candy, sugary drinks, etc. I was told she had " soft enamel", a hereditary condition.
We have lived in the country for 5 years now (well water, no fluoride) and dd has had only 1 cavity in her permanent teeth in all that time! ) have no idea why , or how..
