The Hatmaker’s Sign
*It’s a tall tale.
*A man starts to look old because of a bird.
*The man is bent over and happy because it makes him closer to his granddaughter.
Gullywasher
*The main character only did one thing in life.
*The main character is a very serious man.
*He tried to catch a fish with a sock.
Higgins Bend
*The main character complains at the beginning of the book.
*He sees lots of animals.
*He becomes a “river rat” just like his grandma.
The Raft
*The main character was born in Vermont.
*He loved nature.
*He loved snow more than anything else and found a way to share it with others.
Snowflake Bentley
*There is an island in the story.
*A boy visits with his grandpa.
*The lesson from this book, “People are more precious than things.”
Arabella
*The main character works with beeswax.
*This story is set in the west.
*The main character becomes a great artist.
Cowboy Charlie
*There is an island in the story.
*The main character does a lot of traveling.
*There are banana trees, cherry blossoms, hot springs, and poems in this story.
