How many years have you done FIAR? Do you use any supplements with it like for the history and science or do you take it as-is? Do you find that it's enough with the three r's added in meaning they score well on testing and such? I am feeling my normal springtime urge to try something new although this really seems to be working well for us. I guess it can be called Spring fever! Ugh--I'm such a silly mess at times!
So, rescue me from myself---

Hi Katrina :hi:
We've used FIAR for over 10 years! :hop: It's been a fun 10 years too! I don't feel the need to supplement and my children have done well on standardized testing. (We are required to test yearly in NC.)
My oldest 3 children all love to read so they learn quite a bit from just picking up books. I've not felt the need to add in additional curriculum at the FIAR ages - just reading good books.
I just wanted to encourage you that FIAR is wonderful for the ages of your children. You could certainly add things if you wanted to, but it isn't necessary. FIAR certainly can lead you in many "rabbit trails" which are fun to explore and a neat way to add in lots of additional learning. :)
Hope this helps!

We have used it for 5 years.
I throw in a little of history.
They've all done fine with testing etc.
 I get that spring fever thingy too.
We've used FIAR and BY FIAR from the beginning -- 6 years now. It has been not only the ideal curriculum for our family, but I think actually is responsible for pulling me through that very difficult first year of hsing. I think without FIAR, I might have quit. I can't even believe that now, but it was that difficult a year!
I think if people add to FIAR, they tend to add whatever their "thing" is. Or maybe what their children's thing is. For instance, my thing is English, so I add a pretty rigorous grammar/language arts program. I have never once considered adding science or history, but I know that some people do because they love it and/or their dc love it, and they just want a little extra in that area. But you definitely don't have to add anything, aside from math, of course.
We don't have to test in my state, but I can tell they're learning a lot. I'm very happy with it and so are they!
