When you buy OJ do you prefer FROZEN or DAIRY CASE??
I have been buying Simply Orange when I have the money (at nearly $3.00 a bottle, I don't get it every week) so this week I bought the Frozen Great Value brand. It is a few onces less than the Simply Orange, but I am not too concerned about that, but it could be a difference in cost, haven't actually 'added' that up yet.
So is there really any difference from concentrate and NOT from concentrate?? Is there a difference in taste, acidity, etc????
I really should't drink OJ at all because of the acid (gives me cold sore blisters on my lips) but as long as I do a water chaser and ONLY have a few 4 - 6 oz servings a day, I am good. This is the only way I can really take any of my medicines.

We think there's a marked difference in taste. But it's an individual thing, of course, whether the difference in taste is worth the difference in $.
But a few 4-6 oz servings a day sounds like a lot to me. Since "few" isn't a specific number, maybe it's not as much as it sounds. But we allow one 6-8 oz serving in a day, and that's it.
And that normally includes adults as well. Just now, though, I'm having 6-8 oz of cranberry juice 2 or 3 times a day, which I mix with equal or greater amounts of sparkling water and sip on. This seems to have done wonders for a problem I'd been having for MONTHS, so I'm going to be keeping that up for a while.
Surprisingly enough, even though it's sweetened cranberry juice, it still has fewer grams of sugar per serving than OJ or grape juice. None of that has anything to do with your original question, of course. I guess I'm just chatty this morning.

Hi Robin. We live in Florida and oranges grow easily here. So when it's navel time, we juice and eat oranges as much as possible. :yum:
Here's some info for you: http://yalepress.typepad.com/squeezed/2009/07/that-notfromconcentrate-orange-juice-its-not-so-good-for-your-budget.html then this http://www.livestrong.com/article/349679-the-nutritional-value-of-orange-juice-vs-orange-concentrate/. There's so much info out there regarding this topic. I think you just have to pick your poison. Decide what is best for you and your family and just go with it.

:D Thanks Carol. The cups I have may only be 2 or 3 oz, I am not sure what they are, guess I should measure them? Never thought about mix cranberry juice with sparkling water, might have to try that, probably MUCH better for the body.

I only buy it when it's on sale and if I have a coupon, no matter the brand. You can freeze OJ in the carton, so you can stock up if you have a good sale. I also don't always buy OJ. Sometimes I buy grape juice, apple juice or whatever the sale is at the time.
I'm so stocked up I haven't bought juice in probably six weeks. We've also cut down on our juice consumption because I don't want extra dentist bills from drinking too much juice. The kids were getting a little carried away with it.
