We are starting The Gullywasher! I also prepared for our next book, Cowboy Charlie.

The lessons for these two books are so good!

What will you be rowing this week?

We are enjoying The Bee Tree right now - started last week sometime. Plans for this week include making a huge map and digging into our stack of books on the gold rush. At least that is the plan as of now!

Who Owns the Sun? is waiting at the library for us to pick it up but I think we'll wait till next week and row They Were Strong and Good. I think that is the title. My girls give me a hard time because I always mess up the title.

Cowboy Charlie will be on until the adventure runs out. :) And that is not any time soon. ;)

Apple Pie is for my Kindergartner. He is enjoying his salt experiments (http://blogshewrote.blogspot.com/2010/10/apple-pie-salt-experiment.html).

We are starting The Rag Coat this week. I decided to have my 11 yr. old dd join us and expand it into a more in depth look at mining, Appalachian Mt. geography, and even a bit of human anatomy. :) We are also going to make a little quilt for a new baby to be born in the family, listen to mountain music, and do some pioneer crafts (dipping candles and making sachets). I'm excited! I'll post pics on my blog when we are finished. :)

Oh Ange, we finished up RagCoat not too long ago! My boys were bummed we never got to the chocolate chip mining activity I wanted to do. We might do it this week after I FINALLY make the cookies. It's not so easy to whip them up when you have to make the chocolate chips first.

We were suppose to be rowing The Bee Tree, but we've got a sickie..

We're finishing up Night of the Moonjellies and a seashell unit. Thus far, we've only done a bit of Download N Go's Sunny Seashells, so I'm hoping to hit some of that early this week. We're leaving Wed. to go to the beach :clap so if we don't get finished with the seashell unit, we'll finish it up when we get home and will have our OWN examples to examine :D

Kendra, we are actually using your lapbook for the Rag Coat! I am combining it with some elements of the F-N-L. I also have a very cool info packet with samples of coal that I sent away for almost 4 years ago… I'm finally using it!
What is the chocolate chip mining activity?

This week we are starting A Pair of Red Clogs... it will actually work out well because Ds has been counting down the days until Mythbusters and Storm Chasers (two of his favorite shows to watch with his daddy!) join up for a big episode and since A Pair of Red Clogs has the weather game in it, Wednesday will be our big weather study day topped off with getting to stay up late and enjoy the show! He's gonna love it! :)

We are rowing The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge.

We are going to be taking a trip and in a couple of weeks we should be able to see a lighthouse in person in California. I'm really excited!

We're doing a second week with The Duchess Bakes a Cake.

Today Daddy has taken the kids on a "pilgrimage" to our city's cathedral and is talking about religion in medieval life.

Thursday, heaven help me, I have promised that we will have a medieval dinner with historically accurate menus and table manners.

We rowed Another Celebrated Dancing Bear for the 2nd week this week. Today my girls have been working on their lapbook. I found the Firebird Ballet (with stravinsky's music) in 5 parts on youtube. I thought we would watch it in "parts" throughout the day, but they have been MESMERIZED. We are now watching it for the second time.
