citronella candles

Do you think they work for keeping bugs/mosquitoes away? Do you think they stink? :p

Wedding will be outdoors and I'm concerned about flying pests. Would white paper bag luminaries with citronella candles be effective? Tacky? Stinky? A brilliant idea?
