Helen Keller - we went to Ivy Green

This weekend is the Helen Keller Festival in Tuscumbia, AL. We toured Ivy Green, her birthplace. We got our picture made with the famous pump and got to watch a live performance of The Miracle Worker. Normally, I like to do this type of field trip after the study but this time it didn't work out. So, as soon as our book gets here tomorrow, we will start our unit. This lit a fire though, my kiddos are sooo excited to get started.

It is worth the travel, if you can. Ivy Green is lovely, so is the town of Tuscumbia.

I've always wanted to visit Ivy Green--so glad you got to go! We love our HK study. It was the first BY book my girls did together. They still talk about it and try to fingerspell into each other's hands!
