how long does A&BY really take?

I think Above and BY says one semester, but is that actually the case, in your experience? Is it more realistically a full year?

For us, each BY volume took one year, not one semester. I've never seen A&BY, so I don't know much about it, but am thinking about it for probably dd's 8th grade year.

I have it, and I used it with xh's dd. I think you'd be hard-pressed to make ABY last a full year and not feel bored or bogged down Hitty. It IS meaty, and there is a research project that takes quite a while, but I think trying to make ABY last more than 4 - 5 months would take away some of its joy and freshness. We take a long time to get through our BY books, but remember there are four of them per manual. ABY is just "Hitty" and toward the end of our 4 months, we were glad to be finished with her.

Thanks, Suz, that's very helpful. I looked a little more on this site and saw that A&BY says it takes just 6-8 weeks! I thought it was a semester. So I see that it's intended to be much shorter than I thought. Which actually works out very well with the schedule I was thinking of for 8th grade. :thumb:
