How many of you are using or used Beyond with a 7th or 8th grader?

Glad you bumped this, because I did miss it!
Laura is finishing 8th grade, and we are on our last BY title. :hcry: It's worked great. I've beefed some stuff up for her, but just things like checking out an extra book for her to read independently on a subject, or requiring her to write more notes, etc.

I've used it with a 7th/8th grader, too. If they need a little more challenge - as Anji posted - I have them write more of the discussion-type lessons. But mostly it's fine as is!

I used it for 7th for my oldest and am doing it for 7th this year with my second. For 8th, I used FUFI and will do that again next year for Benjamin. :)
With both, I offered the option of FUFI or Hitty and both chose Narnia. I think the "doll" thing helped both decide, although I have heard it's a great unit even for boys, both of mine are Narnia fans and the doll sealed the deal.

In case Shay does not make it back to this post I will answer you. FUFI is a unit study, Further Up and Further In.

I am glad to see these posts. I'll be done with the Prairie Primer at the end of my daughter's 6th year and will be returning to BYFIAR and A&BYFIAR.

Well, since this came back around, we are currently using Beyond for 6th grade. I am predicting we will have enough titles to last until at least the beginning of 8th and then we will do Above and Beyond. My other dd will be in 6th at that point so I am thinking I might save Above and Beyond for her to do at a later date.
