I really like the periodic table box idea-- I saved some old drawers a few years ago when we put in new kitchen cabinets, I knew I would be able to use them for something. I think I found the "something".

You're welcome! We did the Periodic Box of Elements yesterday and the kids loved it! I just used an Amazon box that I had saved that was about 8x12 and about 4 inches deep...I cut off the box-lid flaps and converted them into dividers for the inside of the box making 6 squares. I had the kids pick 6 elements, take index cards and cut them in half to make the element title/abbrev./number to put in each of the squares and then they ran around the house finding different household things to put in each of the boxes. Lots of fun!
