Does anyone know what year this book is in? Not the year it was published, the year the story takes place? Thanks~

My guess is late 1920's to 1930's. During Caleb's Story, one of the world wars has just started, and I think it's World War 2, but I can't find my proof.

The author was born in 1938 and draws her book from a story she heard as a child about a woman who actually left her home back east to become the wife of a farmer on the prairie. So, I'm guessing the events took place before she was born. ;)
