We are just finishing up Helen Keller. On the weekend, the girls were searching for a geocache to find and started screaming when they found a cache with the information and hint written in braille. We sat down for a quite a while and deciphered the information and then headed out and found the cache. It was a learning experience as we were at first holding the braille sideways, but after a while realized that; and then dd figured out how to determine numbers.
I love when it all comes together like that!
As a followup we headed to the library yesterday and looked at the braille and talking books. We borrowed A Picture Book of Louis Braille written in print and braille as well as a book called Because Books Matter - Reading Braille Books with Young Blind Children. The kids were very excited and squealing about finding these, all a good sign that this is all clicking for them!
