It's been a long while I guess sinced I've posted much on my daughter. I have many praises, and we have a few ongoing challenges too that frustrate me to no end somedays. But, I am here to share the praises. First off...there is just so much going on with Autumn. Meaning...good stuff. In the near future we are planning looking more into communication devices with her (outside of PEC cards.) We'll be traveling back to our University hospital to see what would be the best fit for her concerning this. My husband and I are guessing that she has about 30 words to her vocab. Of course, she uses most of them selectively...not likes she's just spouting them off. But, a handful of words she is using regularly. She is signing the word "more" a lot more frequently. I think she says please too, but I probably miss it many times. Most ASL is difficult or impossible for her due to the low muscle tone in her hands.
Autumn is actually now following thru with a few simple commands. For example, when I ask her to "get the diaper for me on the floor, " she does it! She is also able to help me pick up toys and put them in the proper place. There are other simple commands she is following thru with as well.
She is playing with a doll so much lately too. She's able to find it's head, hair, hands and feet when I ask her to. She loves her baby and will clearly say "baby!" and call herself a "gnnng mama." (good mama.)
Autumn loves bath time and sees it as her special time with mommy, I guess. As she runs all over the place before bathtime and proclaims, "baaaa...mama!" She isn't very happy when daddy gives her a bath. She also likes to play a game in the tub that I call, 'Otter in the Water.' She gets on her tummy and pretends to swim whenever I mention it. Funny girl.:)
And truthfully...the list just goes on. She is of course, still loving books. She is also loving sitting at our table with the other kids as they do school. She likes to mess around with crayons and pencils. I do a lot of hand-over-hand when coloring. She also loves to rip up paper too. Fortunately...she mainly leaves books alone! But, that has taken a while to get that thru to her that she cannot rip pages...still happens once in a while.
I am looking at now doing some BFIAR with her. We have many of the books that she loves, but I *think* she is ready to do a few more activities. Exciting!
Anyway...thanks for letting me share a bit as to what is going on with our girl. I keep praying good things for her. Often my faith seems so limited as to what I think the Lord is going to do in her future. But, God is so faithful, and I am learning more and more to "never say never," when it comes to my special needs child.
