who have special needs kids and have dealt with these issues for awhile.
I'm just learning about a lot of these things, and how difficult it is to get help for your child. I am learning it is even more difficult when you make the decision to homeschool that child. Of course our situation is a bit different, since my kids are in the foster care system, but I am really having to go the extra mile to get things in place for them. It takes many ,many phone calls to even get evaluations for things, and then for the insurance to pay, is even more of a task!
It seems nobody really cares about the kids' issues, but me and dh! Even the pediatrician is not very knowledgeable or helpful!

You are right...it's quite the battle. But isn't it a great one and well worth the fight? Just today I was watching Anna at lunch and she was smiling and I started thinking about how amazing it is that she is alive and talking. I can't describe the ache of love...but you know what I mean. Every minute of fighting to figure out what she needs and get it taken care of was worth it in that moment.

Amy,

It is a battle, and probably the main reason our boys are in school. I'm thankful for a great and knowledgeable pediatrician. However, if Eli hadn't had the additional heart issues, we wouldn't have ever connected with this pediatric group.

God definitely goes ahead, even though the path isn't always smooth and it doesn't always look the way we'd like....

You are doing a great job!

Amy~
Our 8month old foster son is considered special needs. (his needs differ slightly from my 11dd) I am so very thankful for the moms on this board who share their stories and what they are doing to help their child: diet, therapy, medications, natural approach, etc.

Hugs to the special needs moms out there .... they don't take a new moment or even a new day for granted. Thank you for willing to share your story so that other SN moms can learn from you and be encouraged. :hcry:
