Sock Monkey for Boxcar Children chap 11

We found a great sock monkey kit at Michael's today. It was only $9.99 and we had a 40% off coupon (I LOVE COUPONS!!!). Anyway, it was perfect timing. We just read chapter 11 in the Boxcar Children, where the girls made a teddy bear for Benny...well, guess what where going to do tomorrow?? Cool, huh?!

I looked for sock monkeys at Hobby Lobby, but wound up with moccasins, instead. At least the boys told me they'd rather have the moccasins than the monkeys. And they "sewed" them themselves!

After reading the instructions that came with the sock monkey I'm :sad:. You need a sewing machine. I don't have one, and wouldn't know how to use it if I did. This craft was supposed to be for ages 9 and up, I thought it was for "hand sewing". Anyway, we are making simple little ghosts out of an old t-shirt instead. The kids will decorate their classroom for Halloween with them. These are soooo simple to make, I think we can handle it. I'll post a picture later, so you all can see how they came out!!
