I need a little help understanding the two options and what the main differences are between the U.S. Edition and the newer Standards Edition. Which did you choose and why? Thanks so much!

I know the CA ps system recently started using Singapore, I wonder if that is what the newer standards edition is for? when we used it there was only the U.S edition.

:hi: We just started Singapore math a few weeks ago and so far love it. I bought my books at one of the conventions and mine say U.S. Edition, primary mathematics. I know that some ps are going to this and they have a different textbook and workbook for ps. If you are buying the teacher's guide too look for home educators guide as there is a guide for ps teachers also. I have no idea if this even helps? :)

Here is a good explanation of the differences. http://www.singaporemath.com/FAQ_Primary_Math_s/15.htm

The Standards Edition was created to meet the California Standards when California adopted Singapore as their math program. They moved some topics around a little to do that.

I use the US edition, just because I'd already bought it before the Standards came out. A friend last year who had switched to MUS gave me a bunch of US edition Singapore books so I think we'll be sticking with that.

Standards edition is the edition they made with changes needed to be a public school text in California. From what I hear nothing is taken away, only added. However, we have used and are perfectly happy with the US edition.

We went with the US Edition because they already have the homeschool instructors guides written for this edition (the Standards Edition are only available through level 3 I think). These are totally worth the money...even for the lower levels! :D
