Reading Made Easy or Hooked on Phonics?

Can someone compare these two programs for me? or if you loved/hated one of these programs...why or why not?

Reading Made Easy is wonderful! I love it because it is not traditional phonics and works VERY well.

I have never had/read the Reading Made Easy but we have had/still have HOP and it is still sitting in the box. My ds didn't like it, so I ended up buying the Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons. I would have rather bought Reading Made Easy, but at the time we just couldn't afford it and I was having a hard time finding it used.

I read in one of those Homeschool review books...might have been Mary Pride, that HOP is not all that. Her advice was to totally skip it.
