Saxon question (re: different editions)

I have a friend who used Saxon 5/4 (3rd edition) last year with her dd. She has a friend that is willing to let her borrow Saxon 6/5 (2nd edition) this year. This would be a great savings for her!

Does anyone know what the difference is between the editions? If she uses different editions, will her dd miss anything? She is concerned there might be some holes, so I figured someone here may know the answer. ;)

I have Saxon 65 2nd edition. From what I understand, the 3rd edition has the answers worked out to all the problems, the 2nd edition only has the answers in the key - they are not worked out.
