Does anyone have any idea of a program or software that would make games & things for your child out of their spelling words (that you can input) but that you wouldn't have to be online to do? I don't want to have to depend on being online for school stuff if it can be helped. For example, today we had no internet connection because we had rain. (Praising God for the rain, by the way!)
I've got this idea for starting out this year to ask her to do more writing (just for fun, like stories or poems) now that she's not quite as averse to writing, and taking words from her own writings for her spelling lists. What I found happening (when she had to write a poem for language lessons) is that she kept it really short & simple due to wanting only to use words she could spell. I've asked her to write whatever she wants and not to worry about the spelling, just to spell things however they sound like they should be spelled. We will look over her writings and choose words for her to study each week.
Thanks for any help!

I'm using SpellQuizzer (http://www.spellquizzer.com/) with my kids starting today. I have used it before and I'm doing a review for the man who wrote it (he asked even before I was a member of the TOS Crew).

When I played around with it, it seemed like a lot of fun and very versatile for your needs. It's a windows based program that helps the kids by saying the word and it goes through several things with each word if you want it to. I'm going to have the kids use it this week to see how they like it.

Do you have a LeapFrog turbo twist? They used to make a thing that attached to your computer where you could download spelling lists into a cartridge and put it in your turbo twist. We have one because it was sold with our turbo twist years ago.
