Hi All,

Just wanted to share an update with ya'll. My daughter Rebecca has continued to make and sell her bracelets. She went to work with my dh - twice - and got a LOT of sales there. (Some of the women have bought a lot of bracelets!) She even has some requests to come back again. :)

To date she has sold $1081.00. Isn't that great!!! :hcry: (All of the money is being donated to help other children needing heart surgeries.)

We talked to someone in Development at the hospital that is very excited about what Rebecca has done and wants to make her donating it a "big deal". She is planning to have her present the money to Eliana's cardiologist. We are hoping to do this sometime in April.

Thank you for your encouragment. Just wanted to share. :hcry:

PS I've written more about it on my blog. Plus got a ticker on there too. :D Thanks to several gals that helped me on this. :thumb:

Abundant blessings for you, Eliana and your sweet DD. Never in your wildest dreams did you ever expect this blessing in your life!

Oh, BTW, love the ticker! I am praying fervantly for your family and sweet Eliana as the days count down. Seeing that number with such a short amount of time made my eyes well up with tears as it becomes more real. And I am not even her mommy!! Thank you for allowing all of us "FIAR Aunties" into your life. It is an honor to pray for you. :hcry:

Leslie, what a blessing your dd is!

You know, there is a contest going on right now on American Girl's website to nominate a girl for "girl of the year." You have to write a short essay on your daughters "community service/volunteer" work. I think this would definitely qualify! One of the portions of the grand prize is a large donation to the organization for which your dd supports. I think it's $5,000. That would be so awesome to have that money donated to Duke!

Anyway, just a thought!:)

Ummm ... I don't know how to do that. We've thought about it, but haven't really pursued it at this point. Maybe down the line. If you are interested, please feel free to email or pm me for more information. Rebecca is happy to make special orders. (Sorry this isn't easier.)

Thank you to all of you for sharing in my proud mommy moment. She really is doing a neat thing!

We are anticipating the presentation to be sometime shortly after Eliana's surgery. It will be a challenge for my very shy daughter! We will definitely let ya'll know when it is coming up so that ya'll can pray for her!

Thank you Ronette! That is on my to do list! I need to write up something before the end of the month. Guess I should really be doing that NOW! I would love to see her win something like that. She has read about that contest and thought it would be wonderful to have that much money donated to a cause she cares so much about. :hcry:

I need to write myself a LARGE reminder note somewhere! Does anyone else feel like their mind is swiss cheese?

Thank you sweet friends!

Leslie---Do you have any close-up shots of your dd's bracelets that you could perhaps post at your blog? I'd love to see them in more detail. :)

TIA!

Hey Leslie- do you think we can ALL nominate her? I know it says daughter but it probably doesn't matter. I sure would nominate her! Let me know- we could just copy and paste what you wrote on your blog.

I'll see if I can post some when my dh is back in town. I don' t know how to do that without his help. Plus he has the camera. She does beautiful work. :)

What a sweet thought! :hcry: I'm not sure what the process involves. I need to go read up on it though as the deadline is rapidly approaching!!! I'll let you know, but I vaguely remember reading that a girl could only be nominated one time. If it's different, then I'll post.

ETA: Just read the contest rules. You have to be the parent to nominate someone and multiple entries are disqualified. So, it looks like I need to get busy writing. Thanks for the sweet thought!
