We just wrapped up this book this week. We truly did enjoy it, our eldest is all excited because he now has a chef's hat and apron (complete with dancing chicken's on them.. no joke!), all though he hasn't gotten to make his own pizzeria because we took him out.. yes, he wore the hat and apron to the pizza parlor!
ANYWAY.. did anyone else's children notice all the smoking in the book? When we looked closely at the pictures to see the facial expressions and other fun things my kids both said, "Oh dear!" I asked what was up, and they pointed out the smoking. We had a mini discussion about how there was a time when people didn't know/think about how bad smoking was for you. They also noticed the *#$%! above Big Tony's head, we pointed out it was his frustration.
Oh yea, they've decided (especially after the title lesson in The Glorious Flight) that the book COULD have been named Big Tony's or better yet, "Little Tony's Pizzeria". In fact, they nearly had a knock-down-drag-out which ended abruptly when I said I wasn't sewing any more aprons until the fighting stopped. :roflol:
