I got a recipe from Allrecipes (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Classic-Waffles/Detail.aspx) to work for this morning, but was hoping that someone has a good recipe they love to make.

My dh is a waffle lover. For some reason waffles just say love to him!

Basic Whole Grain Waffles

2-4 eggs, separated (i use 4 eggs)
1 1/2 C milk
1/4 to 1/2 C oil
1 or 2 T brown sugar (i sometimes use honey)
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
2 C whole wheat flour (i use 1/2 ww, 1/2 white)

Beat egg whites in mixer bowl until stiff. (this step is optional, but it makes the waffles lighter. i always do it this way, but if not, beat whole eggs in with the milk). Beat egg yolks with milk in large bowl. Add remaining ingredients, beating well after each addition; fold in egg whites. Pour into lightly greased preheated waffle iron (375*) (my round procter-silex waffle iron takes a generous 1/2 C of batter). Cook until batter stops steaming.

Krusteaz---just add water. I just like the taste of them from the mix.

My dh also specified that he doesn't want them to taste like pancakes. Hmmm...I am thinking they all taste the same...

The recipe we used today was pretty good. I am going to try those whole wheat waffles Stacy! Thanks for taking the time to post the recipe.:)

Also, I rarely have a mix around. I usually buy Pioneer baking mix for pancakes/biscuits, but I am thinking he wants something yummier. But I will have to try out these other mixes. Who knows? He may like it!

Our very deeply-held preference is for recipes that have you separate the eggs and beat the whites.

The recipe we use is from Better Homes and Gardens. Unfortunately, I lost that page in my cookbook, so I had my sister read hers off to me. So I have the ingredients, but I don't have the instructions. You might could find it online or see if your library has a BHG cookbook (the older the better).

I'll see if I can write up the instructions later on, but we've got company coming and I really shouldn't be on here. ;)

Waffles with chocolate chips REALLY say love! :D :yum:

We like the Bisquick recipe just fine.

The way I see it, once you've smothered them in blueberries, maple syrup and whipped cream, what recipe you used for the batter doesn't really matter!

Crisp Feather-Light Waffles

1 pkg yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
1/2 C warm water
2 C warm whole milk
1 stick butter, melted
1 t sugar
1 t salt
2 C flour
2 large eggs
1/4 t baking soda

Proof yeast in warm water. Add milk, butter, sugar, salt, & flour. Beat until smooth. Cover and let stand overnight unrefrigerated. When ready to cook waffles, beat in eggs & baking soda. Batter is very thin. Bake in hot waffle iron. Serve immediately or store in frig or freezer. Warm in toaster. Batter keeps for several days in frig.

These definitely won't be like pancakes. They will literally melt in your mouth. Let me know when you make them and waht you think!!!!

Heather P! That is so funny! Wouldn't you know that he eats those things straight out of the freezer! Super Yuck! So, you can see why I am at such a loss as to why he cares if they taste like pancakes!

Lisa, that recipe sounds wonderful. :yum: I'm just wondering how they would turn out with skim milk instead of whole? Skim is all we ever buy.

Traci,

They are heavenly!!! I use 1% milk and they are fine. I have never used whole in this recipe, its just what it calls for. When you try it, tell us how it truns out. :)

Aunt Cathy's Waffles

3 eggs
3 c. buttermilk (or soured milk or yogurt)
1-1/2 c. water
1/2 c. oil
4 c. whole wheat flour (I use 3 c. spelt and 1 c. white flour)
4 t. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
3 t. cinnamon (optional...but why would anyone want to omit?)

Beat eggs. Mix together wet ingredients. Sprinkle dry ingredients on top, then combine. Cook on waffle iron. I freeze leftovers in plastic bags. My sil cooks these for us every morning at our family reunions.

The waffle recipe by Sue Gregg is my DH's favorite food I make. We have these waffles most Tuesday's for dinner.

:yum: We use the Krusteaz mix but have added chopped apples, dried craisins and canned pumpkin (not at the same time:D ) to it and it tastes great. I think you can add almost anything to this mix and have it turn out great! Don't forget to flavor the butter or maple syrup with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice or whatever you can think of. Just melting the butter in the maple syrup is always good too!:yum:

My boys like it when I make them from a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix (recipe on the side of the box). It is a change. ;)

I got a recipe from Heloise (Hints from Heloise) years ago that calls for club soda. I can't find it at the moment but they make the lightest waffles. A Google search came up with several recipes.
