This is our first time around on Volume 4 and after a rough start with The Hatmaker's Sign, Albert is doing us very well!!!:clap: (see my blog for the first few projects of the week)
We have loooved this story. We live in an apt right now, so they could identify soo much with this and caught right on to the atmosphere.
And, besides all that, yesterday at a random library visit, my kids found Follow the Drinking Gourd and insisted on having the book again. This time, they requested that I play (read: peck) the notes out on the keyboard from the music at the end of the book. And, in listening to them, they sooo get it. What's ironic is that I had just discussed with my mom about going to see some of the historical sites when we go home to visit for the holidays. One plan was on a museum locally that also has slave quarters -n-such still intact.
We are so thankful for FIAR--the books, the "method", the author and the memories (that sounded a little bit mushy, didn't it??):)
