I posted awhile back about my frustration with their talking.
Today we read "How to Make an Apple Pie..." We're re rowing this so Ashlyn can take part in the fun. Today I had them listen for the word ingredient and when they heard it could make a "rolling r" sound. It was a lot of fun for them. And I read the book in a kind of strange French accent. So its getting better, slowly, but surely:)

Good idea! Glad it is getting better. It just takes practice (the listening skill, I mean). :)

Good job Sheena! Yesterday, I tried the listen for repitition and raise your hand while listening. My kids loved it. They were competing for who could hear it first. It was so funny. Sometimes I would have to read a sentence twice, and then they would catch it. I think they were getting really caught up in the story. I am sure they will hear it more today. We are also going to listen for backtracking. We are rowing Down Down the Mountain.

Thanks:) God is stretching me in so many ways...teaching me patience, perseverence, etc. I couldn't have done this without suggestions from you gals...I wish I could remember who suggested to have them listen for a certain word. I'm going to try and find my old post. Maybe it was one of you gals???
