I couldn't believe it when I requested it, but it's in such bad shape and there are months between checkouts. It's probably going to be thrown into a library sale and I won't get it in time:sad:

Could you ask to buy it, or be put on a list if they discard it?

;) I would ask them to let you purchase it if they are planning to withdraw it from the system. You might even make them a better offer than they'd get at the library sale.
