I went to a library used book sale last Saturday and was disappointed that there were no FIAR titles, but I picked up a couple of others that, just looking at the cover, I thought my be good go-alongs. I didn't even read them until today and I think both of them are nice stories.
The first one is Periwinkle by Roger Duvoisin - it had a picture of a giraffe on the front. ISBN 0-394-83298-1. It is a story of a lonely giraffe and a lonely frog who have to overcome their tendency to talk and not listen in order to be friends. I found it on Amazon with the ISBN but it didn't have a picture of it.
The other one is Bearymore by Don Freeman. Here (http://www.amazon.com/Bearymore-Picture-Puffin-Books-Freeman/dp/0140502793/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-6324972-2763811?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194640395&sr=1-1) is the cover. It is a story of a circus bear that has to figure out a new act while he is hibernating in order to keep his job with the circus.
