the recommendation in the archives for the film "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness". No one told me it would make me cry my eyes out. I had never heard the story of Gladys Alyward so I wasn't at all prepared. I told my mother if she ever finds this movie to pick it up for me and I'll pay her back (She shops more than I do). But I think the archive really needs a disclaimer explaining that us tenderhearts will need to have the tissues handy.;)

Now I need to see if I can find a good biography on her. Thank you to who ever made the original recommendation.:D

LOL! My daughter studied her in CoOp this semester and watned to know if there were any movies on her. I picked it up at the library and she watched it one night...and cried herself to sleep.

But then she's into tearjerkers now and searches out books that make her cry, too. LOL

This is one of our families favorite movies to watch together! :)

Indeed you need kleenex when you are watching it, no matter how many times you view it! :hcry:

We purchased their Hero series in August. We've recently read the one on Orville Wright and we all are loving it - 5yob, 6yog, 34yo me, and 48yo dad!

Their prices are GOOD in my opinion. Other missions folks available too.

This link is for the video for $11.99 from Vision Video. They have a GREAT selection of good family viewing and usually good prices too.

I just watched this movie and will definitely be finding out more about her life and story. (Apparently, Miss Aylward was troubled by the movie depiction of her life because of all the inaccuracies and liberties taken.) I also found several MP3s of Gladys Aylward herself giving her testimony! You can download them here (http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=63).

I have this one and we read it last year. It was very good, and my dd loved it. I have a disclaimer for you on this book and her life . . . The Inn of Sixth Happiness is watered down compared to the book. Pre-read it before reading it to your dc. Gladys witnesses a public execution in chapter 7 (I think). We read through it all together (my dd was 7) and we just talked through it. I think it made real, for my dd, what God and use and do through someone who is wiling to follow at all costs. Amazing amazing amazing book. :thumb:
