We're going to be rowing Climbing Kansas Mts. soon. I need help figuring out what the clay map of Kansas should look like. I've tried to find elevation maps of Kansas and it seems the elevation just keeps getting higher as you go west through the state. Is that what it is? Is the purpose of the clay map to show how flat Kansas is, that there are no real drastic spots of elevation change? Thank you for your help.

It's a very simple map for a first time builder of clay maps. I posted this link when we did our map. I thought, "Hmmm, pehaps this is the 'bump' on the boy's map."

Yes, Kansas does get higher elevation as you come west although while driving across you wouldn't notice it much as the hills seem to be in the eastern part. The western part is considered the "High Plains" (the panhandles of OK and TX up through Nebraska are all "High Plains" ecosystems).

When we did our map, I was more concerned with the outline shape than getting the elevations. We did ours out of cookie/biscuit dough and after taking pictures had strawberry shortcake for supper that night. :yum:
