The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman

Interesting tidbit @ how I came across this title:
My neighbor loaned me this title yesterday. We were just chatting in her backyard. She loves children's books, too, so we often talk about books.

Well, a woman in B&N recommended this title to her. The woman was irrate b/c someone had given her dc If You Give a Mouse a Cookie as a gift. She was out done that someone would give her such trash and was returning it. She carried on about how that person didn't know good children's literature. She asked my neighbor if she had a minute b/c she wanted to show her a good book...Hence, that's how my neighbor came across The Seven Silly Eaters...My neighbor bought a copy that day. I can only imagine this lady...She sounds like quite a character.

The Seven Silly Eaters is my all-time favorite children's book! :D I read it and roar; my kids (who themselves are incredibly picky eaters!) think I'm crazy, but they enjoy it too.

What a great idea to read with Duchess!

Aren't the illustrations great?! They really add to the already wonderful verse.

My dc have already asked for me to read it multiple times...I think that this is one I'm gonna have to add to our home library.

Btw, I told my dd we should try the Peters' recipe...She asked if I was just kidding...I think I want to give it a try to see what will happen...Wouldn't that be fun???  Whatcha think???

I can't my three dc to like the same thing, so if all seven kids liked the cake, then you can't wrong!

Did you see this recipe? I just found it this morning:

I'm going to have to check the book out again and then make the cake. I tried a few times and, well, I'm not culinary talented. :eyes:

Off to tell my dc I have the official recipe for Mrs. Peters' cake...I know that they'll be excited  ~ and my dd will be relieved that I don't have to figure it out on my own.
