We were doing some very simple forms of notebooking, and my kids (and I) have discovered lapbooking. They are completely amazed and enthralled by it. In fact when I mentioned we were coming to the US to visit grandparents my six year old wanted to know exactly how many of "these great books can I have done before we go? I want to take lots to show them!"

Anyway, I've looked over the many sights you've all listed from previous threads and questions about lapbooking. I've found two that are just wonderfully well loaded with AWESOME resources. So my question is ...

The book from Tobin's Lab entitled: "The Ultimate Lapbook Handbook", is it worth buying? I'm one of those visual learners, and I like to see so I know what I'm doing. I like the info I'm reading about the book, but will it differ from what's on the various web pages? I read about this book from one of the many websites I viewed.

Anyway, any info would be great. I need to order it asap because we'll only be in the states for another two weeks. I'm attempting to order as much of our school stuff as I'll need for the year or so..

Thanks in Advanced,
Kendra

Kendra, I have the book and it is good, but I get a lot more out of searching online and looking at other peoples lapbooks. One of my favorite sites is www.homeschoolshare.com. You can print off so many resources that already are made to fit into a lapbook.

Thanks Jackie. Visually speaking I agree with homeschool share. All though they have many resources too which we utilize all the time. At Tobin's Lab they have a cd-rom for 16.95 full of pictures of lapbooks. I can't say more about it then that because I don't own it, and don't plan to purchase it, but I thought I'd share if you're interested.

Kendra,

I have the book also. It is a wonderful visual, but in my very humble opinion, it is not necessary to own. Especially since you and your dc have already taken off in lapbooking. The book is chocked full of ideas and several of those ideas could be applied to FIAR titles, but you can do just a well by searching the Net or buying FIAR FNL. Just my .02 cents. :)

We have lapbooked a few times and I get a lot of my ideas from the web also.

There are so many things online for lapbooking that I don't think you would have to have the book unless you really want it. I have it but honestly find more online. Here is a great link for lots of lapbooking resources...
