I'm making my grocery list and I am trying to come up with some healthy but still appealing snacks for my kids. Other than cut up fruit and veggies, what can I add?

At my grocery store, I can buy a bag of mini cocktail bagels. We eat those warmed with melted cheese in them.
We also eat a lot of apple halves spread with peanut butter.

We're quite limited here. Everything has HFCS (which is worse than sugar). Lately, my dc have been enjoying frozen bananas :). They also like bagels, leftover anything, and muffins. Trying to rack my brains to think of more. Will let you know. I keep planning on making homemade Rice Krispy Treats, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Have you tried edamame? It is raw soy beans in the pod. Par boil them, sprinkle with salt and eat the bean out of the pod. :yum:  :yum:
I can't express how much my whole family loves these. I keep a bowl on the counter. They don't taste like pea pods or green beans - both of which I don't care for. They are sort of nutty, sort of sweet and good for you. I get them in the freezer section at Costco (they are organic too).
I know you said different from veggies but these are too good not to mention.

We always buy natural peanut butter and whole wheat crackers. Nuts. Popping popcorn, we do it on the stove top with Smart Balance. Cottage cheese. Flavored soy milk, my kids love it and it's quite healthy. I usually make whole wheat bread and the kids love that with some jam. Kashi has some good healthy snacks, but for us they are cost probihitive. Pita chips. Hummus and pita bread if your kids will eat it, mine won't, but it's a healthy snack that I love. Whole wheat goldfish crackers.

*Cheese sticks
*Sun Butter (Sunflower Seed version of peanut butter. Dd is allergic to peanut butter, and we've discovered we all like this more than the traditional version. They sell it at Target.
*Soy nuts...:yum:
*Stonyfield farm organic yogurt....the chocolate truffle is to die for!!!
*Whole wheat toast that contains no high fructose corn syrup (Archer Farms at Target)

So you just cook them and don't have to refrigerate them or anything afterwards?
Thanks for all the ideas, ladies!

We often have smoothies as a healthy snack. My kids love them, and it is an easy way to get a variety of fruits in them. My oldest ds has a very limited selection of fruits he will EAT, but will drink almost anything in a smoothie. Good luck!

Per your suggestions I decided to buy some last night. We haven't tried them yet, but will later.
