Does anyone make homemade granola bars? V loves them, but we will soon run out and can't buy them here. Any recipes to share?

We make our own granola (various flavors) and then make these bars from the Hillbilly Housewife website:

Does your city have a Carrefour? Our Carrefour added two kinds of granola bars to their foreign (that's us:) ) food section after we asked for them long enough.

Good luck! ~Jo

You're in China too? Where in Sichuan? We are in Xiamen.

We do have a Carrefour. Their foreign stock got pretty slim for a while, so I haven't been back to check in a while. I may try to go this weekend. Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

We're in Chengdu (5 Carrefours!). I like to buy the oatmeal in the big plastic tub that has an English label saying "Organic Oats." I don't really believe it, but it makes me feel healthier.;)

Here's my basic granola recipe:

3 cups oats, 1/4 oil (I use the 100% sunflower oil from our local HongQi store), 1/3 cup honey, 1/2 cup sesame seeds, 1/2 cup chopped almonds (use the American flavor) and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix it all together in a microwavable bowl. Micro on high for 2 minutes, stir, 2 more minutes, stir, 2 more minutes, stir. Add in 1/2 cup raisins and let cool.

You could probably make it in the oven too. We like to add dried cranberries (sent from Grandma) or cut up dried apricots (also from the HongQi) etc. Sometimes I add cinnamon along with the raisins.

Enjoy.

PS What is your weather like now? This week it feels like fall - much cooler and really thick grey smog. Yuck.

You have LOTS in Chengdu that we don't have here! Starbucks, Grandma's and Peter's to name a few!

Thanks for the recipe.

Fall feels like it's months away! We are still in the high 80's every day with no sign of relief anytime soon. We do however have blue skies most days this time of year.:)
