I know it's been asked before, but I just want to be sure before I read the book.
I was thinking "Mir-ay"...but my husband said "Mir-ette"...until I asked if he was sure and of course, he wasn't and now we have several pronunciations to choose from! LOL HELP!

I pronounce it like your dh, but I took Spanish/Latin (not French) as well as being from the South!

I pronounce it like your dh; but, that doesn't mean anything...Foreign languages/pronuciation are not my thing!

I'm going with Mir-ette because if the T was silent it would end like Miret not "ette".
Think piroette (the ballet move though perhaps spelled horribly wrong...)
That is reporting in from having taken spanish, latin, and french in high school and college so don't quote me on that!;)

Oooh Heather, that makes sense! Like Monet the "T" is silent. Thank you!!!

Mirette is me-RET.
There is a French name pronounced me-RAY, but it's spelled Mireille. I think it would have been a gorgeous middle name for one of our DDs, but DH wouldn't go for it!

Shauna, I bet that's what I was thinking of. (See how I justify it when I am wrong! LOL)
