This weekend at the book store my dd and I found a book called Thank you Mr. Falker....IT'S THE SEQUEL TO THE BEE TREE!!!!! Not only that, but is a beautiful story. I cried when I read it. When the little girl starts K her family goes through the ritual at the end of the Bee Tree. The problem is that the girl can't read well. The letters move around the page. She is teased and feels dumb. Then one day a teacher finds her and tells her how smart she is and works with her until....SHE LEARNS TO READ:clap: Then she finally understands how sweet reading and learning is.:hcry: The real kicker is that it is the author's true story. I just had to share in case I wasn't the only one that didn't know about this book. LOL. Jess

I'll have to try to find this. I'm going to start school next week with The Bee Tree, and I'd love to have this sequel to go along with it. Thanks for sharing!

a few years ago with a friend, and I cried and cried and cried, and then I cried some more later on in the day when it popped into my head!! Can you believe that!
I thought this story was wonderful, but I'm not sure the kids really got it. They were pretty little.
Our library has a LOT of Patricia Polocco's books, and they are all beautiful. I would like to buy one or two for Christmas presents for my kids because they are very expensive.
