We have just been introduced to Katie Morag stories by Mairi Hedderwick, a Scottish writer/illustrator.
These stories are soooo sweet and fun! Both son and daughter liked them. The illustrations are just really fun. Lots of detail to find.
When finances allow, these are definitely books I'm going to buy. They are too fun to pass up.
Here are two links. The first is to a map of Katie's little ficticious Isle of Struay in Scotland http://www.randomhouse.co.uk/childrens/katiemorag/pdf/rad83BD7.pdf
and the second is the random house page with the Katie Morag/Mairi Hedderwick info.

Click on the link that says to click for notes by Lindsey Fraser. Easy Unit Study info BUT it has lots of illustrations from the book. They're black and white, but still wonderful and you can imagine how great they are in color!!
Seriously DEEEE LIGHT FULLLL!
