We're doing Lentil this week and I was planning on doing the taste bud, tongue map today. I was looking on-line for a printable, when I found several sites saying the tongue map is wrong science, we taste with all areas of the tongue, etc.
Has anyone else found information to this effect? I don't want to teach the wrong thing.

We are rowing Lentil this week, and I just gave them the general idea that your tongue has taste buds and we talked about the different types of tastes, (bitter, sour, sweet, salty). We didn't get into anything deeper than that.

I haven't heard that! We, did just like Jenni though and simply pointed out that various ways we taste. Then I made up a few sample platters, which was tons of fun.
We had the four tastes of chocolate (milk chocolate, bitter sweet, choco covered pretzel)
We did the same with fruits .. of course our lemon was the sour one. My three year old knew it would be sour, but my five year old wasn't convinced after all the man in the story sucked on it AND "we make lemonade out of lemons Mom and lemonade is sweet!" So we suggested he try it, needless to say we had to demonstrate HOW we go about making lemonade sweet. ;)

Just linking you to the page that we used when we did parts of the tongue with Lentil.
